In taking over leadership of the Colorado Science Olympiad, I step into some very big shoes. Tom Reed served as President of the Colorado organization since its inception, and provided marvelous leadership for many years. I am humbled to be taking over from him, and hope to continue his legacy. Of course, with any leadership transition comes both uncertainty and grand new ideas. I will be content to focus on a stable transition this year, and hope to provide the same level of excellence and opportunity for our state's student competitors. I welcome you all to the 2012 competition season, and hope that it will be the best ever!
Colorado sent two teams to the national tournament in Madison, Wisconsin this year: Cheyenne Mountain High School and Preston Middle School. Both scored in the top half (a big accomplishment, given the assembled talent), and Preston took medals in two events: 3rd place in Storm the Castle, and 4th place in Meteorology (see the national site for detailed results). Congratulations to both teams -- they represented us very well!

It takes an army of volunteers to run the regional and state tournaments. If you'd like to make the 2012 competition season even better than 2011, please contact one of the event coordinators, listed on the Contact Information page.
We'll post links to news stories about Science Olympiad in the "News" section. If your local newspaper or online news source runs a story, please let us know (see the Contact Information section) and we'll include it.
